Procter & Gamble’s Corporate Analytical organization has an immediate opening for a mass spectrometrist at its Mason, Ohio site to develop and grow macromolecule characterization capability and applications. The successful candidate will join a state-of-the-art laboratory where teamwork and individual initiative are highly valued. Technical experience and proficiency in protein mass spectrometry, particularly proteomics/protein biomarker discovery and validation via electrospray mass spectrometry and MALDI-TOF mass spectrometry is essential. Additional experience in biopolymer and organic polymer characterization, mass spectrometry imaging, and protein bioinformatics is an advantage. Current core mass spectrometry (MS) instrumentation on-site includes Thermo Orbitrap Elite and Q-Exactive-HF high resolution systems, Agilent UPLC-QQQ, Waters Q-ToF, Bruker MALDI-TOF/TOF and AB-Sciex MALDI-TOF/TOF mass spectrometers, along with associated NanoUPLC and HPLC chromatographic equipment.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Partner effectively with colleagues having diverse technical backgrounds (e.g., chemistry, biology, proteomics, lipidomics, genomics, bioinformatics, life sciences) as well as multi-functional, multi-disciplinary teams to deliver critical analytical data, interpretations, and learnings that support and advance R&D programs and current business initiatives.

  • Strong Oral and written communication skills. Present key learnings to diverse audiences via oral presentations , written reports and posters.

  • Excellent collaboration skills. Work collaboratively in a team environment with multidisciplinary, multifunctional global colleagues.

  • Develop and grow innovative Macromolecular Mass Spectrometry measurement platforms, capabilities and applications that provide value to P&G. Stay connected to cutting edge proteomics, MS imaging and polymer analysis capabilities and expertise, both internally and externally. Bring novel tools and capabilities in-house and/or find ways to tap in to external capabilities, tools and expertise to advance R&D programs.

  • Agility – Independent, self-motivated and a ‘can-do’ attitude. Ability to work on multiple projects/tasks at any given time, and adapt to changing priorities.

PhD in Analytical Chemistry, Bioanalytical Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, or Protein Chemistry.

Technical Mastery - The successful candidate must have a Ph.D. degree based on research demonstrating in-depth knowledge of proteomics/protein mass spectrometry (e.g., Label or Label-Free Quantitation, MRM assay, etc). Experience in polymer analysis using measurement techniques such as GPC-MALLS/RI will be a plus.
